You kidding me, Inquirer? This is a sad excuse for a review. Seger gives it his all every show because he has genuine respect for his fans — and this is what they want to see — a guy who never forgot where he came from. A guy who worked and toiled for ten years before getting any sort of national acclaim. He put on a good show. His voice sounded better than it has in years. And the band members (some of whom are from his original Silver Bullet lineup) are as sharp as ever. Plus, I know Philly is ‘Bruce Country’ but I’m really tired of the old ‘Springsteen is more ambitious’ trope. Don’t get me wrong, I love Springsteen — but just because he put out a couple folk albums and better harnessed the media hype machine doesn’t mean he’s more of an ‘artist.’ than Seger.
The comments on the Inquirer’s Bob Seger concert review are very angry, as the always clever skybarn notes.
In addition to the above, I enjoyed the comment saying the reviewer doesn’t know anything about Bob “Pete Segar” and the one calling the reviewer gay.
