shortformblog: To our friends in Gary, Indiana: This really, really sucks. One of the worst errors we’ve ever seen on the front page of a newspaper. Amazing! Also, why word it like that? “54 killed in Gary in 2010” would have been better. Now that I look closer, that’s a really long deck with a lot of numbers. I’d re-write. You could probably just say “first among small cities according to the FBI” and add in whether this is higher than the previous year. Hmm… I don’t think I have any more corrections, though a strong front page would have maybe a block of photos of some of the 54 people killed this year, instead of the one boring photo used.
