We’re getting snow again. The local weatherpeople, who have been in their finest hour over the three big storms we’ve had this winter, say this one won’t be so bad. I particularly liked being told it by the NBC 10 storm categorization feature, modeled in the screengrab by Glenn “Hurricane” Schwartz.
Looks like this snowstorm will be a 1 or a 2 (see inset photo for full scale), which means it will either be trivial or just a nuisance. I’m not sure what differentiates a trivial storm from a nuisance storm; hell, what’s the difference between a significant storm and a major storm? Yes, the scale is in reality as foreign to me as the hurricane scale (officially the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Scale), as I don’t really know what those numbers signify either. That one seems to make more sense, especially since the storms are named. As I remember, NBC 10 once did this with snowstorms as well. I hope there was an Eric Snow.
The scale has prepared me, though. I’m either going to be annoyed slightly or not very much at all. Somehow, I think it’s going to end up crippling.
