S. and I were at quizzo at O’Neals a while back and I got a text from Steve Odabashian, the local lawyer who occasionally dresses up as Andy Reid. He joined us, and I’m pretty sure we did well because Steve is pretty awesome at quizzo.
Also that night, Steve revealed to us his grand plans: He was going to run for City Council, possibly for a district seat. I think we named our team “Steve Odabashian for City Council” for fun.
Since this is Philadelphia, not only did Steve go through on his plans to run for City Council — in the Republican at-large primary — but won the endorsements of the Inquirer and Daily News. And now, more importantly, mine1: If you are a Republican in the City of Philadelphia, I highly encourage you to vote for Steve for City Council today. What is his platform? Who cares! The dude who plays Andy Reid is running for City Council. If you need to know any more than that in order to vote for him, you’re not much of a Philadelphian. Plus, I’ve always wondered if excellence in quizzo (and VH1’s Name that Video) translated to the public sector, and this is a good way to find out.
You may note that profile of Steve linked above is by me; I would like to offer the same endorsement opportunity to any other non-politician I happen to profile: If, say, Kelli Dunham or Charlie Manuel ever decide to run for public office out of the blue, they also have my endorsement.
1 I like to make my endorsements as late as possible, just to lessen the already remote chance someone will listen.
