One of the most infuriating things about ESPN is the channel’s constant need to put everything into instant historical context (and usually naming the current feat the greatest ever, so people will tune into SportsCenter more). I am most certainly not reading this column to see why Jimmie Johnson’s NASCAR three-peat is as impressive a feat as Vince Lombardi’s. Johnson drives in circles almost as well as Lombardi coached football!, the current lead NASCAR story on the front page of ESPN.com, will have to do for me.
